Castle of Esterházy (Castle) (Fertőd)
This castle is known as the Versailles of Hungary. It was built by the wealthy family Eszterházy between 1720 and 1766. The castle is almost in original condition remained. There are many rooms to see with gold wallpaper, murals, furniture and many 18th century porcelain. The Hungarian composer Joseph Haydn lived here from 1766 until 1790. An exhibition and a room in the castle are dedicated to him. In the summer there are Haydn concerts.
