Fisherman's Bastion (Sight) (Budapest)

The Fisherman's Bastion is one of the most known monuments of Budapest. It stands on top of the citadel hill and has arisen between 1895 and 1901. On top there is a splendid view concerning Budapest, the Gellérthill, the parliament building and the Danube also. The fortress is no real fortress but more a terrace with snow-white walls, towers, stairs and arcades. From the bastion an impressive staircase of 145 steps goes down to the water city. On the square between the Matthiaskerk and the Fisherman's Bastion the statue of king Stefan I of Hungary stands.
