Fortress of Sümeg

One of the best preserved forts and one of the largest in area of Hungary. The fourteenth-century castle of Sümeg lies on top of the Castle Mountain (270 m). The castle is still in very good condition. The castle has an exhibition about the history of the castle, the torture room and the wax museum can be viewed. In the courtyard are regularly held knight games (if not then under in the basement), very nice for children. The climb to the castle is steep, it may be difficult for children or infirm people, down there are taxis or horsedrawn carriage for taking people to the top.
